Site Frontier:Advertising Coordinator
From BattletechMUX
The Advertising Coordinator handles coordinating pushes for publicity for the game. This is accomplished by such means as:
- Paid and Free Banner Ads
- Forum Posts
- Writing Reviews on Gaming Sites
The Ad Coordinator may be given a budget of money to appropriate to ads on websites or publications and will help rally the troops around expanding the game. While this is one of the tougher and at times a bit of a thank-less job, an adept Ad Coordinator can help bolster the playerbase and really get things crowded again.
An example of a typical day would be something like:
- Identifying forums to start threads on.
- Posting, getting others to help bump it periodically.
- Looking at cheap, effective ways to help get our name out (Facebook ads, local paper, banner ads)
- Working with writers or artists to develop more material.
- Looking for sites where others may write reviews on for more exposure.

Importance
This game is very marketable, there are big mechs running around blowing each other up. The site is entirely player-driven, we're free to play, non-commercial. Our game changes rapidly with demand and is constantly improving. The product is pretty good, it's a matter of getting our name out and attracting the masses. Our new player retaining rate is very good for a text-based game, there is a lot of potential to see a huge playerbase.
An Ad Coordinator with a good work ethic and a lot of determination can really help bring the game to new heights. We need new players to do fun new things. The more bodies we have in the game at any given time, the more that can happen. Massive battles can occur, large-scale tactics start playing a factor, and imbalances that arise from small numbers of players start to shrink or vanish entirely. Being responsible for bringing about the next golden age of BTMux would be a great thing to play a massive role in.

Tools of the Trade
To help you in your quest for the ever elusive big playerbase, there are a number of things at your disposal:
- The Advertising forum.
- This wiki (Feel free to make notes, scribble, or whatever)
- The Advertising channel in-game (named Advertising).
- Staff members and players that are willing to contribute art and text.
Compensation
Given the demands of this position and the potential for getting the game back to a booming state, compensation will be awarded in the form of donor points that may be applied to custom units. The amount will be in relation to the increase in traffic seen from month to month. You may also make a lot off of getting people to set their referrer to yourself.
