What is a Commander and what does he/she do?
Factional commanders are elected at the beginning of each periodic faction shuffling and remain in place until the next re-shuffle. For all terms and purposes, Commanders are the same as Officers with one difference: Commanders can set or remove officers.
Commanders are denoted by a cyan C on census.
What are Officers?
Officers are players put in place by the Commander to handle organizing the faction. They can do things like set rally points, objectives, hotbases, targets, etc.
Officers are denoted by a green O on census.
If you'd like to see the orders your officers have set, use the orders command.
How are Commanders Appointed?
Periodically, elections are held to elect Commanders. A console will appear in your faction's spawn room and you may vote for any of your factionmates (including yourself) there. See the console for further details.
Do I have to follow Orders
No, but you will find that you will be better respected and liked within your faction if you cooperate with everyone. You can technically go do what you want but this is a team oriented game and you stand to benefit more by staying with the pack.
Commander/Officer Commands
- ofc
- Displays a listing of officer commands and what they do.
- ofc/sethotbase <base#>
- Sets your faction's hot base. This is the base players are directed to if they do a respawn/hotbase in the spawn room. Use 0 to set the hotbase to the faction's HeadQuarters.
- ofc/setobj <Text>
- Sets the message players see on the orders command.
- ofc/setrally <X> <Y>
- Sets a rally hex.
- facroster
- Shows who is in your faction (Commander Only)
Appointing Officers
To appoint officers, commanders must go to their faction's embassy in the spaceport's diplomatic quarter and head into their office. There is an interface there, take a look at it and everything should be self-explanatory.
